Every kid needs a champion

What is an effective classroom management technique? Is it to instill fear in a student? Or is it to instill respect, not just a student to a teacher, but a teacher to a student, and also teaching the student to respect themselves. If you degrade them, and treat them like dirt, will they not treat themselves like dirt?

I asked my Peralihan class today to raise their hands if they felt they were smart. Only 4 out of almost 50 students raised their hands. And then I asked those that thought they weren't smart to raise their hands, and about 20 hands went up. Consciously or unconsciously, some teachers might say stuff or act in ways that degrades a student's intellect and self-confidence. How do you expect the kid to succeed in life when all you tell the kid is that "You're a failure"?

Every kid needs a champion. We need to consciously remind every kid in their potential. Yes, they might suck in academics. But that doesn't mean they cannot achieve big things.
